Pantone/Gap T-Shirts

gappantone11

The Moment blog at the NY Times has a piece about a Pantone/Gap collaboration on t-shirts. Don’t know exactly how different these are from American Apparel shirts, I’m interested in seeing them and trying that “Mimosa”  (pee yellow).

Must Have: Belgian Inspired Map Satchel

95c_open21I’m lusting after BillyKirk’s shoulder satchel. It’s designed by two brothers who then have an Amish family construct their products. I’m trying to convince myself to get this satchel. I know that my MacBook Pro wouldn’t fit but it would be big enough to carry a book or two and some paperwork. It’s pretty slick-looking and has the air of a timeless piece. You can visit the page and read a little about how it’s made but frankly, the piece speaks for itself. It’s yet another bag that will keep me from visiting our local vegan cafe.

“Flight Pattterns” by Aaron Koblin

Behold! 24 hours of flight data charting the flight paths of 141,029 airplanes all over the United States.

Here’s a detail focusing on the Midwest:

He’s selling 24 X 36 prints at a reasonable price. I know where $40 of my stimulus package will go.

Destination: Japan

This is starting to seem like a Japanophile blog… A couple of days ago the NY Times had a small piece about the MOMA Store’s new Destination: Japan section. Ah, clean and quirky design. While we were eating at Whole Foods today, I saw a woman chowing down using a pair of traveling chopsticks. What a great and green idea! We’ll, sure enough, you can buy them at the MOMA Store!

Remixing Radiohead

werere.png

I’m a huge fan of Radiohead’s “In Rainbows,” the whole album is just a joy to listen to. I even listen to Amplive’s remixes of some of the songs. If I had any remixing skills Radiohead is one band I’d love to play with and re-contextualize (Cocteau Twins is another). Well, apparently Radiohead also wants us to play with their music because they’re offering the song “Nude” in stems for us to play around with in Garageband. It’s a little pricey for one song but I’m in such a good mood that I’m going to overlook that right now.

I can’t wait until I get home so I can buy them off iTunes!

Messenger Bags

I’ve had this Timbuk2 messenger bag for almost 4 years now:

It’s time for a change. I want something simple but handsome and slightly worn. Yes, I’m still talking about messenger bags.

I think I found the right one:

It’s a little expensive but then again, I’m a yuppie right?

Sleeping Patterns

For the last few months I’ve slept really well. My sleep is easily disturbed, if I’m excited I’m usually unable to sleep, if there are lights in the room I am unable to sleep. I actually wear ear plugs to bed because I’m sensitive to noises too. Lifehacker has a link to a sleep mask that seems like it would be perfect. They look pretty weird, they’re supposed to let you keep your eyes open. I suppose keeping your eyes open in perfect darkness and having ear plugs on would be cool for sensory deprivation or meditation.lights-out.png

Apollyon

And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle. And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months. And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.
